Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to order a gown?
We recommend shopping for your dress 5 to 8 months prior to your wedding. Once a dress is ordered, it generally takes 4 to 6 months to arrive in our boutique. We recommend setting aside at least 2 months for alterations. Prior to your alteration fittings you will need to have your shoes, undergarmets, and petticoat (optional) with you. Many of our designers are able to do a "rush order", shortening the process to less than two months. Our designers out of Dallas and Los Angeles are very accomodating and may be able to ship your dress within 2 weeks. Additional charges may apply.
How does my wedding party order their dresses?
As a perk to our brides, we offer a 20% discount on our bridemaids dresses when you purchase your dress through us. We realize that not every member of your party will live in the Bay Area, so we are happy to provide a form for their measurements, and will do our best to help you locate a bridal shop near them to take the measurements professionally. We will even call the shop to make arrangements for their measurements to be taken.
We are happy to take measurements in our boutique for bridemaids living in the Bay Area and participating in weddings in other cities. Please have the bridal salon where you are ordering call our shop.
What should I bring with me?
The only things you may want to bring are photos and ideas of the gown you are looking for. We do have some strapless bras (not all sizes) for you to try on gowns with, but you may be more comfortable trying on gowns in a bra that fits you. We do have a great slection of shoes in various heel heights in the store for you to try with our store samples.
Do you carry all sizes?
Our boutique carries samples of the designer's line, ranging in size from 6 to 14, but most can be ordered in sizes 0 to 28. Once you have found the dress of your dreams, we will special order it for you. Many of our designers will make changes to your gown, such as the length of the train, adding straps or cap sleeves to a strapless gown, or modifying the beadwork.
Keep in mind that bridal gown sizing is very different from regular women's clothing sizing, and each designer's sizing is different. Our experienced consultants will take your measurements to the designer's specifications once you have placed your order. For trying on gowns at your first appointment, we are able to "clip" gowns to show you how the gown will look.
Do you handle alterations?
Our expert seamstresses has been altering bridal gowns for over 15 years. Virtually every gown will require some alterations to ensure you of a perfectly fitting gown. She is very experienced (and creative!) when it comes to bustles or changes to the design or beadwork on dresses. Additional charges for alterations do apply, and are based on the amount of time required to assure you that your gown fits perfectly. Our seamstress will provide you with a complete list of alteration charges at the time of your fitting. Alteration services are offered as a convenience to our brides, however, you are not required to use our seamstress. Because of the current workload of our seamstress, we can not accomodate alterations to brides that have not purchased in our store.
What forms of payment do you accept?
